![]() You do not have to remove the cord and switch or handle to get the bag off if you don't want to. Remove the screw and then gently pry the bag off. On the back side is a small screw that holds the band in place. There is a skinny white metal band that goes around the entire bag bottom. ![]() If you check out the first picture posted by Nick take a look at the very bottom of the bag right above the white plastic lip. When fully gone through these brooms have very good air flow and have fantastic pick up capability. ![]() When fully dry you will notice nearly twice the suction and lots more air flow. Do not dry the bag in the dryer as it will shrink causing problems when it comes time to re-install the bag. Wash out all the remaining soap and dirt several times and them let the bag air dry over night. Using a bristle brush gently scrub the bag back and forth working up and down until you see the dirty brown start to look lighter. Keep the bag inside out and rub the soap up and down the entire bag. I have washed loads of these bags with the fells naphtha soap with excellent results but be sure to turn the bag inside out first and vacuum the loose dirt. The bag will now slide right off just like the top screw on retainer. Remove the screw with a pair of pliers very carefully and using a screw driver gently pry the bag off the plastic retainer assembly. ![]() Next go to the bottom of the bag on the back side and you will see a small screw back there that connects the skinny white metal band which holds the lower portion to the base. The bag is easily removed from the cleaner by unscrewing the top white plastic retainer piece which will separate from the middle portion. The same basic two piece motor with the armature being separate from the field coil was used right from the beginning but this changed over in 1979 to an all in one GS electric motor. This is the first year that the motor housing went over to plastic switching from 2 fan housing screws to 4. ![]()
